Grand Teton National Park

Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park preserves a spectacular landscape rich with majestic mountains, pristine lakes and extraordinary wildlife. The abrupt vertical rise of the jagged Teton Range contrasts with the horizontal sage-covered valley and glacial lakes at their base, creating world-renowned scenery that attracts nearly four million visitors per year. The Shoshone Indians called the mountains Teewinot, or pinnacles; they were also known as pilot's knobs, or sharks' teeth. But the name that stuck was supplied by French-Canadian scouts, who called the three most prominent peaks les trois tetons de la terre (the three breasts of the earth). These three peaks became a landmark for hunters and trappers looking for the Teton Pass.

The Grand Tetons are at least in my opinion the most beautiful of the US mountain ranges their sharp steep soaring peaks are majestic to say the least just driving along the highways in the area is a wonderful way to spend a day.
